If rainforests are the world’s lungs, wetlands are the lifeblood. Over the coming years, the Cotswold Water Park is set to become the largest manmade wetland in Europe, giving a home to important species of bats, butterflies, fish, birds, mammals, invertebrates, plans… there’s SO much beauty and inspiration here for writers to explore and celebrate. Led by JLM Morton, this immersive workshop invites a small group of writers to join a guided swim around Lake 32, stopping to talk, read and write in response to creative prompts inspired by our surroundings.
You don’t need any special kit. Just bring an adventurous spirit, a curious mind, a swimsuit and towel. Goggles are advisable so that you can see through the wonderfully clear water as you swim.
You don’t need to be a triathlete to participate! Safety cover will be provided by our partners Waterland / Lake 32.
Location: Lake 32, Spratsgate Lane, nr. Cirencester, GL7 6DF
Cost: £32.
Tickets are fully refundable if extended lockdown prevents outdoor meetings.

Email dialectwriters@gmail.com to book.
A note on swim fitness required: This is not a sporty speed swimming event. The plan is to do some short swims, going gently, probably doing breaststroke and chatting along the way, from point to point around the lake. The short swim course at the lake is 200 metres - you should be able to swim that, albeit slowly, without having to stop. That's about 8 lengths of a normal pool.
