Beware Strong Currents

Kate Carruthers Thomas, a participant on one of our recent Swim-Writes on the Thames in June 2021 produced this stunning poetry film in response to our workshop.

Kate says, 'I was inspired to create this short film by one of the elements of the pre-reading package sent to Swim Write participants by facilitator Juliette Morton - a short video of one man's experience of swimming the Thames. Watching it happened to coincide with me teaching myself to use Adobe Spark to enliven the presentations of my academic research in social sciences and I decided to put it to poetic use!

The video includes photography of Cheese Wharf, location of our planned river swim; of Hathersage Outdoor Pool which is my usual swimming habitat and two poems: Beware Strong Currents and Pool.'

Thanks Kate, we think this is absolutely magical!
