Dialect Dinner with the Rickard Sisters

A dinner party with a difference, Dialect Dinners offers up three online courses of rural and edgeland discussion with a hand picked guest author - an entirely virtual (and accessible!) feast for heart and mind.

Our guests for March are Scarlett & Sophie Rickard, sisters and renowned graphic novelists. They were brought up in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire and this landscape has infused their work - Sophie is a writer, and Scarlett is an illustrator.

Together, they are best known for their books 'No Surrender', an adaptation of Constance Maud’s work on female suffrage, and the graphic adaptation of 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists'. This hugely popular version of Robert Tressell’s weighty socialist classic took four years to create, and is also translated into French.

Sophie and Scarlett will be bringing along their three imaginary courses for us to share, and through our Q&A sessions we’ll have an informal discussion about their writing life and creative practice.
